Personal Development Programmes - Reception
to Key Stage 4
Designed
to embed the key life skills that are essential throughout life to be successful
and raise life chances.
We run a range of different programmes to
suit different ages and abilities that focus on the needs of young people; not only in school
but in the wider world including the workplace. Developed with Every Child
Matters as a core principal, these programmes draw from Social and Emotional
Aspects of Learning (SEAL), Excellence and Enjoyment, the Learning Outside the
Classroom Manifesto and the Personal Development aspect of the new Secondary
Curriculum. We also draw experience from corporate teambuilding principals
that have been used successfully in industry for years to improve teams'
communication and cooperation skills.
This programme is also designed to fulfil Ofsted's
requirement under the school SEF "4f - learners' acquisition of the social
skills and other workplace skills, essential to their future economic
well-being."
Ideally this programme
should be integrated into your school's curriculum on a termly basis so that key
skills are embedded and progression is ensured throughout the student's
education. However, we are fully aware of the timetable and financial
pressures that school's are under and will make every effort to fit around
these.
Taster Day -
up to four different classes
Gives an opportunity for up to four, one hour sessions in
a school day. Learners get the chance to have a go at various different
activities in rotation and discuss what skills made their attempts successful
(or not).
Intensive Day -
one class is taken through a whole day programme
Learners are taken through a full day of activities and exercises that explore
the essential key life skills. Starting with warm-up
activities and discussion, participants are encouraged to think about how teams
work in the wider world and what constitutes good team skills. They are
then given the opportunity to try out their theories on a number of different
activities designed to push these skills to the limit; as none of them can be
successfully completed without high levels of teamwork. Throughout the day they
are encouraged to analyse and reflect on their performance through discussion
and the help of observers.
Split Day -
two classes are each taken through a half day programme of teambuilding activities
As above but a shortened version to help spread the cost.
